My name is Justin Choi, and I am a Leonia resident and a senior at Bergen Catholic High School. I am proud to say that I am an Eagle Scout with Leonia's Scouts BSA Troop 71.

My brother Christian Choi started the Leonia Veteran Banners Program as part of his Eagle Scout project. In December 2023, his goal was to create memorial portrait banners of veterans to display throughout Leonia. We felt that it was important to honor our veterans, those who served and sacrificed so much for the freedoms that we enjoy. For Memorial Day 2024, the program was successful in producing 57 banners. For Veterans Day 2024, an additional 22 banners were produced, and for Veterans Day 2026, an additional 26 banners were produced. This project was 100% community-funded, and the community came out strong. We are proud to report that the project generated over $24,000 in contributions and produced 105 banners, and we look forward to doing EVEN MORE.

The Banners are going up and being installed now for Veterans Day on November 11th, 2026.

The window for submitting a veteran’s banner information is currently closed and will possibly be reopened in the near future.
